Maybe I should have placed this in third party section but there is more traffic here I'm just wondering how difficult it be to write a plugin for VT 5.x to automate the process of creating slide shows like a Animoto style??

It would have to run externally of VT/SE to construct the overlay style effects. LW Connect by Bob Tasa is the only plug-in I know that could do this by rendering out the pieces in LW and then bringing them back into SE.

Wish there was a tool shed macro or super tool shed. If there was, you could select a image/s in the story board and select a "Montage" style preset. The macro or super tool shed preset would then make two copies of the image, crop the left and right in each to converge into the image but in three pieces. finally adding the presets motion so that the pieces fly on screen and converge to display the image.
Since it would be done via the control tree functions, a background clip could be displayed constantly.

Alas such a feature does not exist but you could make a bunch of presets that would do all of this and then you would have to manually make the proper amount of copies of the image and then apply the right preset to each one. You would also have to make sure the size of the image is identical for each one or the presets would not always work right (cropping being one of the big problems).

I have a lot of presets I have made for DV, DV Wide screen and 720P just to do this exact thing. I have to batch re-size the images using Photoshop before using them to particular size for each project resolution.

Wish I knew how to program as I would have made this "macro" style plug-in a very long time ago. That and a few plug-ins to be used in the spline editor.

Take care,

One way to do this (without any programming) would be to create a little segment that produces the desired effect, using as many layers as you like - then store aliases of the sub-projects. Inherit would do the rest.

Yeah that would work but have to drill into the sub-projects to allow for overlay so for me, I am faster at my way cause I have been doing it for a while now.
Be really nice if we could make a super preset in tool shed though ;)

Take care
