Girlfriend wanted a purple candle holder thing...this is what I have so far...no candel just yet...planning on putting on a grey stone table or something...

It looks very cool but I can't say I like the metal band around the candle holder. It looks like galvanized metal much like a trash can so it's a little Sanford and son for my taste.

Sanford and Son rocks though....I even have the theme song .mp3

Any suggestions? It needed something to break up all the glass. I want to change the base a bit to have the metal wrap wround and up the glass base some.

Maybe I should make the band a little more decorative??

I've always like the look of hammered copper or something like that. Maybe even a platinum or something. I just don't like the galvanized metal, at least not for your glass. I think it takes away from the style of it.

And I loved Sanford and son as well.

Thanks hrgiger. Ill try out some different surfaces for the band and get some test renders done. Appreciate the feedback.

I agree that the metal band needs adjusting, maybe Platinum??
How did you get the glass part to look thick?
I am modeling some wine bottles for a still-life but the glass doesn't look like it has volume.

I didn't do anything special to make the glass.....I made my glass object set it to my glass surface....then I copy the object, flip the polys and make that my air surface.

i think even black powder coat would look well, but maybe that's too pier 1 imports.

I like the Colour. What sort of candle are you going to put in and when? A bit of fire will be cool.

Sanford and Son do you mean the TV show based on the British TV comedy, Steptoe and Son. ?

I g#don't really like the base much - it just looks much more modern than the top parts. Great texturing...

Sheesh no time to work on it and now I am ( was ) 3 pages back...

I shortened the holder and changed the base....still having base problems....added a candle in there.....need to work on the wick...
