View Full Version : Fillet/Edge Beveling
Maybe I am missing something, but is there a way to create a fillet, or bevel an edge, features included in most modelers, in lightwave? I have always concidered this a very important feature, and it is nowhere to be found in lightwave. Any help is greatly appriciated.

To answer your question...I don't think LW has fillet options. It does however have many ways, sometimes better, of recreating the effect its own way (pending you don't need CAD precission). If you could post some examples of what you are trying to do we might be able to help you find the LW solution that will work best.
If you find that none of these options work for you there are plug-ins that will do more than enough for you. Here is one:

take a look at the movies...amazing stuff no?
Well, I need it for various things, cad precision is not necessary. I like to use it for softening edges, creating weathered effects, and for filleting (like what rounder does, they definately should include that util in LW 8). Anyway, I also use it for adding aging and adding realism to many models (anything from tables to gears).

There are a few free plugins that give you this...
Do a search for bevel on www.flay.com 's plugin page, it's the place to start when you've found something you want which LW doesn't have....
I recommend daz's edgebevel (though it loses vmaps info :P) and Mentory, both are free and work in slightly different ways...
The link to Mentory seems to be dead, is there any way you could e-mail me the plugin?
