View Full Version : "fatal" error message after LW 7.5c crash

After installing the Mac LW 7.5c update, I've experienced crashes with the following error message when rendering:

CKPT: Checkpoint block nesting overflow -- FATAL!

This has happened with both LWSN and LW on its own, but it doesn't happen every time I try to render a given scene. The last scene to which this happened is very simple: only two objects, 12 lights with shadow maps, no raytracing or any special shaders or plug-ins.

Has anyone else seen this error? Any ideas on how to solve it?

My system:
- dual 500 MHz G4
- 1 GB RAM
- OS X 10.2.6
- LW 7.5c

I know this is an old post, but does anyone know what causes this problem?

I'm getting the same error message recently on numerous files, which is completely annoying and productivity-killing.

Since it's been over a year since I posted that message, I can't remember for sure what I did to stop that error, but I'm guessing it was an OS update. My configuration at the time states that I was running 10.2.6. My guess is that the update to 10.2.8 fixed the problem. I haven't seen that error in a long time. What version of the OS are you running?

Hi,

I'm using 10.3.5. I haven't gotten this error ever before, until recently, and I have been using LW8 and the same os for a few months now. I can't seem to figure out what causes this error - it has happened with a few files in the last few days. Whenever it happens, 3 or 4 of these error message pop-ups appear at the same time. Argh!

Well, I have not yet upgraded to OS 10.3 or LW 8, so I'm afraid I can't offer any answers. Have you repaired permissions on your system disk recently? That should be done after installing any new software or OS updates. That may not help, but give it a try.
