I'm using dynamics to roll dice in this 3d garage tut, but everytime I calculate then play it a couple of times it crashes. Also I save scene and all objects but when I reopen the scene after the crash I have to recalculate. Are these dynamics a regular problem. I use WindowXP pro 32 AMD dualcore 2.8.

you always have to recalculate the dynamics after reopening your scene unless you save your motion to mdd or something. You can do that in the dynamics tab of the object you want to save.
What kind of collision objects did you use? You don't have to use the actual geometry. It's faster to use a box for simulating the dice for example...

I did change the dice to box, per the tutorial, I don't recall changing the table to anything, if there was even an option. It was a cool effect but when I would for example start moving the camera around or adjusting the position of the 1st keyframe to change the bounce it would crash. It does help to know I have to recalulate each time. Maybe I can get everything set, then calculate it, then hit F10 and see if it'll make it thru rendering the whole scene. Still frustrating though cause you need to adjust the dice position mulitple times to get them looking/rolling like you want them.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hakWu3_Ubds Well I did set up camera, surfaces etc then calculated the dynamics so I wasn't moving much around after they were calculated and got a render. One die rolls pretty good but the other I tried all kinds of things but it just wants to fly I guess Still had a few crashes, oh also lowered bounding box threshold to 50000 and up segment memory limit to 82mb. Don't know if those helped but I tried them anyway

wow crazy dice bounce , add a colision object at the top maybe stop it bouncing away off the table .nice looking render ,whats the gravity setting on the crazy dice ? try making it heavier .
can you not copy and paste the dynimacs for the good dice onto the crazy one ?

The gravity was -9.8 I think, and I took the weight on the second die up to 18. It is strange that I cloned the 1st one , I thought that the second would act the same, but not the case. I'll experiment some more this weekend. THX
