Did you buy an official Lightwave version?

If so.. you would have to put the hardware dongle into your usb-connector on your computer. Then a hardware-Lock ID will appear when lauching LW. Write down this number and then register your software on Newteks webpage. You have to enter this ID somewhere. Newtek will then give you instructions how to unlock your software.

Yes I bought an official Lw version. I am pretty new at this and I thought I registered it but I didn't know about the dongle key. There was no one to call at that time, so I posted this thread. Then I went back to look at the newtek website and I somehow found the online registeration form, then I registered it. Then Newtek emailed me back and said they would send me the key. Gee... I hope this isn't going to be really hard to learn. Newtek should be sending my code so there is no need to reply to this thread anymore.

All I can say is...

Lightwave really scared the **** out of me the first time.. I even thought about it to look for another program.. But when you do learn it.. it's amazing!

be patience and practice a lot.. It's just the interface and the plugin-system that you have to get used to..

good luck

good luck! I don't know whether you're just new to LW, or new to 3d in general.

but whatever you do, stick with it. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the software. Fyi: so much more functionality is provided as free plug-ins from users around the globe, so be sure to frequent flay.com, or do a search on these boards as to peoples favorites.

You won't be the first person to be frustrated by the un-Mac-like installation/key/dongle thing.

Your next email will be about LW quitting and not saving your Prefs files properly...

We've all been there. :)
