Just a test render.
Displaced snow from an image using shadermap pro and some additional noise textures.
Rendered in Lightwave 9.6. Some hand painted petal details mixed with photo reference for color on the petal.
Lovely, the snow is excellent.

The only crit I have is that I'd expect some specularity hits on snow, rarely snow would be so matt.

The sparkle would definitely add to it, but I've seen snow look like that.

Thanks for the comments and crits.
Here in Chicago, we get many types of snow. I did experiment with reflective flakes bbut I liked the soft look better .

Very nice. Elegant in its simplicity.

Very nice almost looks like a photo. But i do have to agree about the spec thing, snow is a bunch of small ice crystals and ice has a good amount of spec I think it definitely would add some more realism. Looks good otherwise.

Sorry, it was 104 degrees here this weekend, makes me long for the Nebraska snows. Beautiful image!

This snow is fine. I like the area beyond the petal, good looking image.

No, put the snow over to the left ... no, I mean over to the right ... no, get rid of the snow. Is it gone? Ok, bring it back, just like you had it at the beginning and let's take another look at it ... can you rotate the snow? Ok, let's rotate it ... no, the other way. Is it ok if I touch your mouse and rotate it myself?
I think it looks like a macro photograph. I've tried to take pictures like that myself, but they never looked that good. I think the image is beautiful.
