Hi all!!

Long time since i posted something on the forum, but it´s time to change that! ;)

I´m actually digging this from my "oblivion chest" (stuff that sits on my hard drive that will never see daylight); as this was an old project that i had to leave on-hold because of lack of spare time :oye:. But as some friends and I thought it would be a shame not to finish this character, I decided to bringing it back to life one more time.

This time I will try to post the progress of this character on the forum for some critics & comments that could help me improve this model, a part from that it is a way of "forcing" me to finish this model, can´t leave this thread empty can I? ;)

The modeling part its finished and i need to make some adjustments on the UVs before start painting the textures. To start this thread I will post some old "clay" renders. So the critc madness can begin!!

Hope you like it!!

Thanks Guys!! I´m glad you like it!

Did not have much time this week to work on the textures but i will attach to this post an old "painted" version of the model. Those textures are useless now, because i did some changes to the proportions and geometry of the model and had to redo the UV. Need to paint it again from "scratch", baahh more or less as i already have a reference and color scheme for my character! ;)

But at least you can imagine what i´m aiming for... ooohhh btw here is a wire of the model too! :)

Wow! That's some pretty wicked poly flow you have there. Very efficient.

Hopper: Thanks a lot man! Glad you like it, took some time to get it there but I´m pleased with the results! Let´s see how do i fare painting this guy! :oye:

Novawave: Thanks for the compliment. Share some tricks, off course! Let me see, the main trick is to use spinquads, spinquads.... and more spinquads!! :D Can´t live without that, it´s the holy grail of modeling in LW along side with add edges and bandsaw pro!! Control the spinquad tool and you will have a source of unlimmited power!! ;D Spinquads give you the ability not only to control the flow but the polycount; that´s why my mesh looks "simple" yet have the detail where it should. You can achieve a lot of detail without using a lot of polys if the flow is right, no need of tons of polys. I personally like to model using Poly by Poly technic, gives me more control over the ammount of polys I´m using and the flow I´m going for; the only downside of this is that it can take me more time than box modeling.

I did not have a sketch for this, but i had some references from ironman and a screenshot of a little 28mm miniature that gave me some ideas. OOhh and a good reference for the proportions always come in handy when modeling!! :)

I hope i can get some work done this weekend!

Great modeling, and the character has believability (did I spell that right?) in it's weight and mass. Alongside using spin-quads and such have you tried using Sub-Patch Weight, becasue I also noticed how efficient the poly count is, most models that you see of this caliber are usually quite dense(I think)? And correct me if I'm wrong but using SP Weights can give you some control to the sharpness of the edges. Great stuff:thumbsup:.

Thanks man!

Lol think you got that right... believability... haha not the best person to ask about english grammar!! :p

You're right about the SP Weights, you can control the sharpness of the edges without the need of extra geometry. It's a good way to keep your polycount low and achieve the nice and crispy edges! :)

In this case i did not use the Sub-patch weight, i was able to achieve the detail i needed through geometry and even using polys to sharpen some parts of my model I'm under the 10.000 polys for the hole character. So i did not spend a lot of polys on this one and my goal was to have the most of the polyflow as i could, some will say I'm a cheap bastard for not throwing some extra polys for the poor thing!! Low Poly freak hehe!! ;)

Diggin up this theard from oblivion... :)

Had to leave this project on-hold again and could not updated this thread; today I found this "old" render laying around and thought it would be good to put it here so i can get some critics and maybe the motivation to finish it once and for all.

I hope i can find spare time to finish before 2010! :P

Critics are welcome!

(I really hate the boots... ;D)

I think I know this model... I am sure I know this model, hahaha...:D
Rodrigo, great to see that you are in the mood to finish this model. It was great before when I thought it was finished and certainly it will be excellent after you fix the little details.
Keep up the good work, dude!
