Quicktime Problems and Washed out Video

There have been numerous reports from users with problems with Quicktime and washed out video. It reminded me of a note from Avid Support for the Mädchen Composer 3.1, it reads. . . .

"Quicktime 7.4.5 and 7.5 causes washed out video if you use Motion Jpeg-B. . ... Avid recommends using Avid Codecs when using these versions of Quicktime."

So, you might want to change QT Versions....

If you're going to a compositor or something you wont want to use motion jpeg-b, anyway. You'll want uncompressed or image sequence.
For general use, use h264..it's a great compression.

use either animation of png(smaller but much slower) codecs at 100% quality for comping, archiving or mastering.

for previews use mjpeg or h264, both of whitch have gamma issues on playback.
