Hi anyone -
What does this mean upon launch?

"The gcore3.dll file is linked to the missing export OPENGL32.dll : glBind Texture".

Program won't run on my machine. Which is ...

Win98 (4-10 1998)
PIII 500 mhz
384 Ram
TNT Riva video

Thanks for any help.
Doug

Check to see if you have ATI newest drivers and newest DirectX, might need alittle software upgrading.
Update your Windows. Seem like you missing OpenGL. Do you play OpenGl games on it?

Don't bother with DirectX, it's a problem with OpenGL.

This error indicates the version of your gcore.dll and opengl32.dll are mismatched. Try reinstalling your drivers.

When did this start? What changed at that time? Did you install some new software at that time?

Thanks folks.

Nakia - no games installed. I was thinking it was a directX thing too.

Mattclary -
I just installed the 7.5 upgrade (from version 5.5). That's the only recent software change.
Should I just go t0 microsoft and grab both files you mentioned and install?

Thanks for your suggestions.

Update the ATI drivers first.

Hey Nakia -
My video card is an Nvidia TNT Riva card, and I'm using the latest drivers.

Not sure why ATI ringed in my mind, Sorry on vacation :-)
Then you might have to update windows.
O like Mattclary said re-install the drivers

If I remember correctly, LW 5.x didn't use Open GL, so that's why you didn't get the error when you used it. From what I recall, Win 98 doesn't have built in support for Open GL, I think it would have to come with your video drivers. That's a pretty old card...

Hey MattClary -
Hmmm ... are you saying my card may not support my LW? Arghh.
I'll try and install those opengl drivers and see if that does it.

Thanks for your suggestions and thoughts.

Actually, just realized the gcore3.dll is LWs DLL, I thought it was the video card DLL. LW is making an unsupported call to Open GL. At least not supported by THAT version of Open GL. Let me do some reseacrh and I'll get back to you.

Okay will do. I'll report back to post progress.

Thanks Matt.

Modernhorse, download and install this driver. I'm pretty sure this will correct your problem. It should have an up-to-date copy of the Open GL DLL.

http://download.nvidia.com/Windows/45.23/45.23_win9x_english.exe

edit: Actually, just looked at the included file list and don't see that it contains an Opengl file, but it does contain an NVOpengl file... Go ahead and install it, if that does not fix it we may need to find another Opengl file somewhere else. Go ahead and look at the properties of the Opengl32.dll file and tell me the dates it was created and modified. if you have a "version" tab, see what the version number is. The file will probably be in the Windows or Windows\System directory.

Mattclary -
Where did you find this? I went to the Nvidia site and couldn't find it. Thanks for the link.

Matt -
Okay I loaded the file you linked to. Uh I guess I forget to tell you my card is AGP. Can you find the drivers for an AGP card?

I also checked the versions of the two files. Here's the stuff:

Opengl32.dll ver 4.00 12/13/95

Gcore3.dll 03/24/02

Thanks for any more help.

That driver should TOTALY work for an AGP card. As far as I can tell, it's not specific to AGP or PCI. You are sure you have a Riva TNT and not a Riva 128?

Hold onto where you are at, I need to e-mail you a new Opengl file that is newer than yours. Is your e-mail address in your profile? If not, send me an e-mail at bodiless@comcast.net, I will reply and send you the file.

Hi all -
With the gracious help of Mattclary, who found and sent me a newer OpenGL32.dll file for my machine, LW now launches without a hitch. Thanks very much to Matt!!

Hope this helps anyone else in the same predicament.
Cheers!
