This is a character I have been working on. I just got that character
animation book by Timothy Albee on monday, it has already helped

i like it a lot, he's got "personnality" ! :)
but he looks a bit square, a bit more modeling to shape him up maybe...

Thanks for the comments.
I went back and made new weight maps I think this was the fourth time.
I could not get the shoulder area to deform right. It looks like it is working now. I also put a tail on him but he looks better without one.
and I made a quick pitchfork for him. I am adding more detail to that now,
the tips look to round.
tell me if you have any more crits or ideas

The way the eyes are set in the head look kind of odd I think, but I am learning how to do that myself. It is whippin my ..... you know what

Yeah I made the eyelids in there own layers so I could just use the piviot points to open and close them without using morphs. And I was going for
more of a cartoon look. But I am still trying things out, I think it is looking
good for the first character that I have ever gotten this far with.
I will be doing some practice animations from that book maybe later
today and I have this blog thing that I can upload videos to. I will see if the links will work, if not I will just put a link to that so I can get some crits on those.
My film classes have not started yet so I have endless time to work on this.

I like the cartoon look, and your first model is a heck of a lot better than my first one (of which I am currently working on as we speak) the Subpatch mode is starting to make me experience a little bit of anger.

It's taken me just about a year to get to this point, learning from the internet
and some books. Only in the last few weeks thing have gotten much
easier to do. Well anyway, see if this works here is a link to my gallery
if you go to page 3 there is a quick animation called "pull12" that I did yesterday the weight maps on that one are the old ones. much better now.

Very cool, the top render reminded me of the scene in Ice Age where the lion has the kid on the rock and plays peek-a-boo saying "where's the baby" raaaaaah. Or is he straight out of the scare factory. :D

Tell me what you think. I made textures for the eyes.

I still think that your eye area looks too sharp compared to the smoothness of the rest of the demon character. I think it really sticks out that you took a lott of time getting everything else to flow but the eye sockets where they meet the face just stick there. I don't know maybe it's just me but it doesn't seem to fit. BTW astro, we are at the puters way too much LOL

Yeah maybe I will rework the eye lids. At first I did not even have eyelids
then I made them in another layer but maybe I need to make them part
of the head. And yes we are at the computers to much, but I have also
been outside working on my van (it's an astro van that's where Astro
came form Sanchez is another story). I am working on the new eyelids
now, post pic soon.

well, I made new eye lids but to me it just does not look right
so I changed the way the old ones look I will still work on the
other ones.

Here is a pic of the other eyelids. They need more work but you get the idea.
I just don't think that they match his character. I did work on the other ones
to get the sides to not stick out so much.
