Hello,
Can anyone tell me if Lightwave has a lip sync plug in somewhere? I have seen that there are ones for 3DMax as well as Maya, but I can't seem to find any for Lightwave. Alos I would like to know what the updates are in version 8.
Also, I would like to know what everyones favorite water plugin is for doing splashes and waterfalls?
I would appreciate any input that anyone would have. Thank You

LipService from Joe Alter.
He doesn't sell it anymore, but you maybe able to find someone willing to sell it. It comes with a dongle and allows you to run both LipService and Shave & a Haircut.
MotionBuilder will also allow you do to lipsyncing.

Try this. It allows you to assign letters to morphs and then write them in a time line (kind of like a non-linear set up). Not as automatic as lipservice or other lip synching soft, but very handy and free...

Does anyone know where I can get Lip Service now that it;s no longer for sale?

1/create your vowel sounds/consonants in morphs.
2/Add the displacement plugin
3/Open it and click Set morph...
4/Click on an empty line in the list. Now since it's japanese, it says Word, but you really want to put in the vowel sound for the morph, like 'a' and then select the morph vmap for that sound beneath. You can also adjust how much of the morph you want.
5/Click Set and it should appear in the list.
6/Click continue when you've set up all the morph targets and sounds. Make sure they're all set up as it appears you can't go back and change these without clearing the timeline of lip sync animation!
7/ You can load a sound, but it won't play :P but it will display the wave in the top window. (so you'll have to load it seperately in layout, which is probably better anyway.) The panel is non modal so you can keep it open while scrubbing the timeline.
8/ Drag out a blue area in one of the lower timelines, which covers a word in the wave.
9/ Click Set, and type in the vowel sounds for that word.
10/Click Okay and the block is filled in, with the word and markers for the vowel sounds. You can click and drag the markers for finer adjustment, or change the morph amount for that particular vowel sound (so it's still completely adjustable!). To move the block along the timeline, use the sideways arrow keys, or you can delete it and add a new block.
11/ continue till done.
It's very easy to set up and use so you shouldn't have any problems.

Hey Dodgy, I've had that plugin for awhile but couldn't figure out how to use it. Thanks for the steps!
Question, since you have to load it into the plugin seperately, is it assuming that playback is 30fps? What if your doing an animation at a diff frame rate?

Lipservice really kicks butt. You might try on ebay or on the shavelw3d yahoo group....

I guess so, but I'd never use the load waveform in the plugin anyway, just use LW's native loader instead....
