i'm struggling with the detailing of r2d2's head - it shouldn't be too hard but the blue panels are recessed slightly and i'm struggling with bevelling and smooth shifting. I've stencilled the shapes onto the surface of the dome using solid drill but I seem to get an uneven surface if i move the points or bevel them inward.
thanks for any suggestions.....;)

im not 100% sure what you mean, but you could just select the polygons of the panel then using the bevel tool just click once, so it makes a copy of those polys, then drag them inwards.

Hi, I think the problem is that you have polys with more than 4 points that aren't "lined up" in relation to eachother. I don't know the best way to fix it but you could use more segments for the ball shape or try to split the <4 point polys into a several smoother, but probably someone knows a better way.

thanks - i'll have a go at a more tidy way of modelling these polys and post the results - i think solid drill / stencil is the best way so far ...
