View Full Version : using replace when exporting project to live writes over list?

I don't know if this is a bug or what, but tricaster 2.0 has a serious problem with how it handles cg from edit text loaded into the text tab.

If you say export project to live and say replace, it will write over whatever list(.vto) was last saved. even if the text tab is completely empty at the time.

Nothing like this should ever happen, unless you actually save a list and write over the list file. I was wondering why the producers cg list files were being erased and figured this ridiculousness out this morning. Were going to recommend that no one ever uses replace, and just use append.

but I would be grateful if anyone could enlighten me on this.

thanks

I cannot replicate this behavior - mind you I'm running 2.5, but I don't remember ever seeing it happen. All "Replace" does is overwrite any previous entries in the "Text Page" group of the "Add to List" drop-down in the Text tab.

thanks for your response. Its really weird. ive done tests where it acts as it should and doesn't write over the file. but then most times it does.

We will update to 2.5 soon. hopefully that will fix it.

I just did some extensive testing on this and even after the 2.5 update this is happening. I can't believe that we would have the only tricaster that this could be happening to. I would appreciate any help on this but I guess maybe I'll give newtek a call and see what they have to say about it.

thanks for any ideas about what is going on with this.

Sometimes weird stuff happens when unusual character are used in filenames ... any possibility down that road, perhaps?
