A new client wanted me to do an image like Wyndebrook with a little lake for a browsergame. The Budget was not very high, but I invested a little bit extra time. Hope you like it, thanks for viewing.

Really great work!

I'd say is the smoke looks a little to opaque. Maybe just lower it's opasity would not draw so much attention. Or add more detail to it.
The only thing else i would say it more weeds or bushes around the building to cover up the edges where they connect to the ground. Just to break up those lines.

I love this scene! Was it all done in LW or was some of the vegetation done in Vue (or other third party app)?

How long did it take you to do this?

Very nice texturing and lighting which compliments the good models.

I agree about the smoke though; add a little more detail to it and lower the opacity just a touch.

Great job! These kind of images are like neverending stories, there's always something to add, re-arrange a bit. I miss a bit warm colors, some reddish-brown spot somewhere. BTW the water is brilliant! Those reflections are very nice. And one more thing would be great, but of course just theoretically, if the straight lines of the buildings would be a bit uneven, or a lot. But hey, it's very good looking. I watched it from a distance also, almost photo like. Congrats!

The render looks amazing. It reminds me of a spring morning.

Are there any animated scene examples you can post?

Was this all done using Lightwave?

thank you all very much for your feedback.

I only used lightwave for creating the scene, but to create some of the trees, I used xfrog. I worked about 5 days on this scene, but most of the models I already created months ago. I dont have an animated version of this, but maybe soon.

Truely excellent work, you've done extremely well to make everything look natural without any typical CG repetitiveness.

Very very nice medieval reconstruction ;)
Incredible work without HD instance or Vue, I guess you use a 64 bits OS with a huge bunch of ram.
Just curious: How many polygons in such a scene?

Impressive

I can just imagine medieval knights passing threw the village on their way to a battle.

thank you all very much for your comments :)

@ pixym: I was able to do nearly 95% of the scene in 32bit with only 2GB, but then I had to finish the scene in 64bit. The Scene contains about 2.5 million polygons. Most of the trees only have 4-5000 polys, I polyreduced them much with qemloss...

I remember seeing Wyndebrook. I love your work, it's very detailed and wonderfully executed, it's great to see another one of your little lively villages come into existence.

I have little to criticize, but if you're looking for improvements, I'd suggest two things that pop up immeditely:
- Do an ambient occlusion pass and add it in photoshop... things like the base of the church and other buildings will tie a bit better together. Experiment with the AO range.
- The water's edge seems a bit too defined. Perhaps some areas are more shallow, and less sharp?

The trails in the mud... do you paint these in PS and use a bump map? They look great.
