This is a head I'm working on and off, trying to understand what's a head, a skin, etc...
I'd like to have your advice on this one, because I'm at a point where I made so many changes that I don't know anymore if I'm on right track or not...

Here's an OGL view for better crit :

Thanx every one for your input :)

The expression looks a bit 'forced', not relaxed... as if he is about to stutter...
The lips are a bit too dry... and maybe the ridges on the temples on the top of the head... they seem rather heavy... The head looks rather tall there too... The little scar (?) at the tip of his nose is a bit distracting...
The skin texture is pretty cool!

Wow. That's quite an amazing model.
I can only see one big thing that doesn't look quite right..
The temples go in a little too far I think.
Great texturing too! How did you get it to UV so well?!?
Jimzip :D
It looks like he has glitter on his lips.

hi facial.. cool head..
you want critique..ok i give you critique.. :-)
but take they not too seriouse cause you knlw that i am nort really in realistic stuff.. :D
i feel that from the front his lip are a bit too unatural ( modelling )
at least the bottom lip should be imho a bit mor rounded and smooth..
hoo.. an a last one.. could it be that the check bone are a bit too angulare ??
ehheheh.. wireframmmmme pleaase..
mais bon ne prend pas ce que je dit pour parole d´evangile.. car moi le modelling realistic .. tu sais...c est pa smon truc.. lol

His nose is a bit too thin I think....
Nice texturing and lighting.

Yo there :)
Seems everybody agrees on the temples and mouth, I'll fix that soon (map + model) . Lot's of work at the moment...
Jimzip : The UVs are quite classical, smoothed endomorph + Cylindrica Y axis UV projection, then adjusted point by point...
Some areas are not fixed yet, the nose to cheeks part is distorted and the UVs are still mirrored since I'm constantly tweaking the meshe....
Xtrm3D : Hehe thanx, about cheek too angulare, you mean in 3/4 view where the cheek meet the bottom of the eyes ?
Thanx all for your constructives comments :D

The middle of his upper lip indents too much down as well... just a bit...
I am curious how you use the texture... I am doing a head, which is almost finished (texturing and tweaking) and using a plain cylindrical mapping as the method instructs with separate planar projections for eyes and mouth (Inside LW 7 book)...

The method I use is a single UV for the head.
I prefer this method to classical projections because if I continue modeling after setting my UVs, the map will follow, I won't have to readjust or repaint the map.

Hey Facial,
Cool head. I agree with what's been said so far. In addition, he looks a little "cross-eyed." It's going to be really nice with just a few tweaks.
Good to see you.

About the texture, he looks like he has flour or a strange skin desease on his face, I don't like the colors. The square spot in the eyes is very distractive.
wow ,the eyes look so good..
really full of life! anyways i do agree the lips need some work.. but i like the angular cheeks and all ,really adds lots of character to him ,amazing work..
show some wires :)

Looks really cool. Love the skin texture. Two minor things that stands out to me are...
1) The "face" part of the head seems to be just a smidge too small for the size of the overall head (or that he has a big skull?).
2) the transition between the cheek and the nose seems too smooth, especially noticable in the rendered 3/4 view.
Other than that, I really like the texturing and realism.
BTW, looking at the OGL shots, the character reminds me of Dave Gibbons work on The Watchmen. Very similar style, but realized in 3D. Pretty cool.
