I use LW 7.5 for the Mac. I was sent the little purple dongle and both mac and PC install discs.

I am considering dropping Mac and going PC for performance reasons and was wondering if I am able to install the PC version on a PC without any special actions between myself and Newtek.

Will my hardware lock and serial number work on both platforms, and can I run both at the same time on non-networked machines?

We have that version at the company. It can be installed on Windows AND Mac.

a single license permits you to run it on only one computer at a time, regardless whether it be a PC or Mac.

as far as special actiona between yourself and Newtek, none are necessary. the duo dongle will work just fine on the PC, as will the PC version of the program (of course). just be sure to install the dongle drivers (both USB and Parallel) without the dongle plugged in, then reboot, plug the dongle in, then install LightWave. should work that way. LW seems to still look for the Parallel drivers even though it's the USB dongle.

That's not completely true. While you can happily use your licence on a PC, you need to get a new license.key from us because of the fact that the dongle gives a different ID on a PC to on a Mac.

In Europe we try to ensure that people get new licenses within hours of registering. If you install following the instructions - don't have the dongle in when you first insert the LightWave CD, install the Sentinel drivers, plug the dongle in, reboot, install LightWave with the dongle in place - you will get a 14 day temporary licence anyway that allows you to use the software fully while waiting for a fresh license.key file.

Thanks for your replys.

Coincidentally, my wife came home with a new P4 2.66GHz Sony Vaio last night.

Since I'm using a 1 GHz Ti Powerbook I can now install it on the PC and test benchmarks between the two.

Now we'll see who's the boss!!:D
