I love lightwave, don't get me wrong, but I bought version 6 and not two months later they bring out version 7. GRRRRR! Oh well live and learn I thought. No way am I going to buy 7. I'm waiting for 8 I say... Then it's announced buy 7 now and get 8 free when it's released. Yeah! I bought it, april 26. Didn't actually have it in my hands until the last week of may. Then they announce this dfx bundle but because I purchased in april and that promotion started in june I'm NOT eligible. Nice. Great customer service.
Sorry, I don't mean to whine but why can't they include those of us who are loyal to lightwave, I convinced my boss to get it even though he wanted to go with Maya, a friggin break. Maybe include those of us who upgraded within a couple months either way of the promotion.
All I can say is my upgrade better not be an electronic one THAT was never mentioned in MY deal. I better get all the books and cd's.
Again, sorry for the rant but I just had to get it off my chest.
If you have read this far I have a feeling you might feel somthing similar.

Maybe include those of us who upgraded within a couple months either way of the promotion. But what if someone bought it a couple months ago plus a week, what about those that bought it a week before that and the week before that? What you're are asking for is that they retroactively extend a deal, I'm sorry but no company in their right mind would do that unless,... nope, I can't think of a reason.

Hunter, I also upgraded to 7.x as soon as they anounced the free upgrade to 8. Literaly, within 30 minutes of Chuck's post. I'm sad I missed the DFX deal, but that's life, get over it.

Also, if I remember correctly, I payed $395 to upgrade from 6.x to 8.x, not the $495 of the DFX deal.

Yeah, I was clear that it would be a download, where were you? You can pay $99 and get a hard copy, it's already been discussed here.

Don't be sour, someone is ALWAYS going to just miss the cutoff. If you move the cutoff, someone else will then feel THEY got hosed.

I upgraded from Inspire to LW about 2 months before they did the big price redux on LW. I also purchased Aura a couple of weeks before they dumped it as an official Newtek product.

I dunno, so goes life. Newtek is pretty good at offering good deals every so often and while I have gotten in on a couple of them, it always seems like there's a better one coming along shortly after that.

Hunter, we regret that the terms of our agreement with eyeon do not allow us to provide the offer to any who purchased prior to the date that the offer was announced. We've certainly offered leeway on specials on our products when possible, but when bringing another company's product to our customers at special savings, we most often simply cannot extend the offer retroactively, nor can we provide it separately from an upgrade at a reduced price.

The best we can do is to offer the [8] upgrade with DFX+ to any [7.5] owner for $495US, even those already eligible for the free [8] upgrade due to a recent purchase of [7.5] full or upgrade, so we have set that policy. Many users who are interested in a professional compositor have found that offer, which essentially gets them $1785US value in powerful compositing software for $495US, compelling and satisfying. and have elected to purchase.

I understand, and I do apologize for the whining. I should have titled the thread I did it to myself again . Sometimes it just feels good to vent, ya know? It's just that I don't have an extra $900 laying around to by dfx, and it looks like such a great package.
Hey, Any chance I can pay the $495 to upgrade my 7.5 to 7.5 plus dfx? :) (kidding)
I guess I'm over it.
Thanks for listening.
LW is still the best and I still can't W8 for 8.

I got distracted while writing the reply and Boom when I post the question as a joke Chuck lays out the offer. Lifes weird.

I guess what I'd like to see is an upgrade to 8 w/o the DFX at a lower price. I don't need it as I already have software to do that, so I'd prefer 100 off the upgrade less the DFX.

Also is there a thorough description of what all the improvements are in 8. If it's mostly CA I already purchased MotionBuilder so I wouldn't be that enthused over an upgrade where CA is the major enhancements.

Yeah, I purchased MotionBuilder too. It cost me $13.95 (as it came on the CD with the latest 3D world). And I'm still excited about LW8.

Heh,
Likewise - though I more than likely will get the $200 upgrade to MB5 - useful tool to have.
I was lucky as regards the upgrade - I ummed and Ahhhed too long and the deal ended :(
Then I found out it was still running / extended :)

Now I'm chomping at the bit w8-ing to cre8 with 8 :p

hunter,

I feel your pain, dude. I ordered on April 27 and didn't receive it until the second week of May. And I never got a response to the letter I sent to Newtek or the phone message I left.

Still, I have a great piece of software.

I betcha if you had called them up, they would've given you that phone.

Of course, the phones probably cost about 50 cents each.
