The file recorded directly to Harddisk would be MPEG format (this is the default) .
I suggest you connect your TCpro to a DVD recorder next time so all ur work
would be directly burnt into DVD but watch out, you might want to keep watch on
the dvd's capacity (normally would be 1 - 2 hour depending on the quality) and
change to new DVD when it's almost finished :goodluck:
For your current problem, I suggest you drag the files into an editing software like adobe premiere or after effects instead :)
(But Im sure there are other simpler editing softwares that would accept MPEG files, ask some friends)

The MediaEditor in TC Pro is a lite version of SpeedEDIT and it should be able to edit the video clips recorded by TC Pro.
If you can not edit the recorded clips, please try install codec suggested at NewTek's FAQ:

My recorded MPEG-2 clips will not play back properly or at all (TriCaster 2.0)
If the file does not play back at all then you need an MPEG-2 audio/video decoder installed on your computer. For PC we recommend All-in-One Codec Pack ( http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec_Pack_All_in_1.htm ) (make sure to choose to install the MPEG2 Filter).
The .MPG file should contain both video AND audio, a separate .MP3 file is recorded as well, but this is intended for editors such as Final Cut Pro that will not read embedded audio.
For best results you can play the file back in Windows Media Classic.
For a player that works on Mac (and has a PC version) you may play the file back in VideoLAN Client (VLC) as well.
