Man oh man, that looks really good!
However, something seems to be missing...
Hmmm... oh I know what's missing.
There's no keyboard in this image!
:D

mmm… in this case I wonder if playing with posterisation filters
in PS would not be easier and allow better results.
Cell shading is a great technique but not that easy to use,
especially on such an image with many reflections…
PS : Matt > congrats for the keyboards, you're a killer !

Matt: LOL... that was a good one! :)
you're gonna re-render it now with a real reflection aren't you!
;)

Nice - just a suggestion, but how about a lower angle, maybe copy angles from the film?
Cheers,

Cool! The Wall was the first CD I ever bought. Actually, the first video tape I ever bought too, now that I think about it.

I know that is usually a personal question ... but I was just wondering.
Which technique did you use?
Array in Modeler?
Array in Layout?
Clone in Layout?
HD Instance?
excellent! i have a set of marching hammers instead of an hourglass - got it off of a FLOYD site years ago (can't remember which one).

Actually, given the repetitive nature of the marching, it's an absolute natual for a looping clip - you could run it full screen as a screen saver.

Here's an animation:
marching_divx_320x240_01.avi (http://www.allaboutkeys.com/lightwave/marching_divx_320x240_01.avi) (6.36 MB, DivX 5.0.5)
I rendered it as an image sequence at 640x480 pixel. But for some reason the DivX compression produced some strange artefacts even with the highest settings for quality.

cool animation :)
(maybe you could just add a little movement up / down to the hammers,
a sinusoid curve in fact, to improve the "human" walking look, you see what
I mean ?)

I used the array tool in Modeler to make just one row of the hammers. I put every second hammer on another layer because I needed two different "walk cycles" for the animation.
In Layout I set up two nulls for the two different pitch rotations needed in each row. I used two expressions to make the hammers follow the nulls' pitch rotations. Then I cloned the first row several times. Another null was used as a "master mover" for all rows.

That's what I love about Lightwave. There are so many cool ways to tackle a problem. I would have never though of the solution that you came up with. Thanks for sharing
