Hi!
After 3 years of using the Tricaster it's in dire need of a complete reformat and rebuild.
Stops and starts, freezing of live footage during a session and random restarts have causing havoc.
Has anyone done a rebuild?
Does anyone have any tips?
Our tricaster didn't ship with any media which was strange, and I can't see anywhere on the site where I can download any tricaster software to reload it.
Any help would be great!
Matt
I'm not at my TriCaster right now but there is hope. I think this has been on all TriCasters from day one.
In the admin mode there is a utility called "Restore TC" or something like that.
I'd wait for further input before doing it, but I think that will restore the TC to factory settings. You should back up anything you have created on the TC though.

Not all Tricaster have that image, the early units do not have the restore option.
I bet Newtek would accept it back for a free restore.

Yes, contact Newtek about restoring it. I'm sending mine back for a restore once BBall season is over. I'm hoping to have the budget to update to v.2, but it doesn't look good at this time.

The restore option would probably do you a world of good. I don't know if there is an easy way to tell if there is a restore Linux partition. If you can't find it - call NewTek support.

Just add an extra $100 surcharge per game and you'll get your upgrade paid for.
Heck, the airlines and government do it. At least your clients will benefit, unlike when the Government charges/taxes you more. :D

I don't know if there is an easy way to tell if there is a restore partition.
Upon booting TriCaster, if it exsits, there will be a prompt during BIOS initialization to Restore factory defaults.
If you are getting random re-boots, though, it's a pretty good indication of hardware issues, and you need to contact Tech Support about getting the system looked at.
