Hello ,

I need your help.

I'd like to wrap many rubber bands around some pencils (too many work in modeling).

I tried with dynamics but with no success.
My settings are:
1- pencils have a FX collision as "object subdivide".
2- rubber band has softFX with a collision dectect to "All".
At frame "0" the ruber size is "1" and at frame 20 the size is "0,4"

But nothing happen. Where am'I wrong? SoftFX or ClothFX?

Has anybody an idea? I'll be very happy (especially my tiny brain):hammer:

Many thanks

Philippe

Have you seen this thread:

you could try cloth and set the Polygon size in the Advanced tab of the cloth settings to less than 100%. this will cause the cloth to want to contract. that should strink it down and wrap it around the pencils... hopefully! clothfx is always a bit hit n miss.

What you need to do is creating a cylinder with the same shape of your pencils and make it collide with the rubber as an object mode, instead of create collision objects for every single pencil. If you do this way the calculation will be much more simple and you will get proper results.

Thanks!

What inakito said is wise. If you have to do many rubber bands, I'd suggest an additional step. Model the many rubber bands as a high resolution model, then model a low resolution proxy. Do the Cloth Simulation with the low resolution proxy and FX_Link the high resolution model in place.
