Hi,

I have just switched from mac to pc. my mac was running lightwave 9.2, pc is now updated to 9.6. I had cs2 on mac and now have cs3 on the pc.

I have moved all of my folders including images onto the pc but 9.6 will not open psd files and I seem to be having to open all my images in photoshop, saving them as jpegs and then reopening and re-saving the jpegs in ms paint in order for 9.6 to open them.

Does anyone know why I cant open the psd files or in-fact why my 9.6 will not even recognize jpegs saved in photoshop cs3?

did you check image>mode in photoshop? sometimes when i have issues like that it turns out that photoshop is saving them as CMYK or something like that. (should be RGB).

Interesting thought.

The images work when loaded on the mac but on the pc they don't
It seems that there is an issue when copying them from mac to pc or there is an issue between my 9.6 and cs3. I have to confess, I dont know enough about it.

You don't happen to work in 16-bit do you?

Try re-adding all plug-ins.

Don't use JPEG files anyway, as they are lossy, save as a 24(or 32 bit if they have an alpha) PNG. Double check you have added the file extension .png (so it looks like my_picture_001.png) or some such or the PC won't recognise them AS PNG files (or JPEG's or whatever). Mac's recognise files by their icons, PC's use the file extension, and though most software on the mac use them these days, you might not have been?
