some stuff that i am discovering... this bout of experimentation thanks to andrew's excellent tutorial for dummies (aka me)....
CLOUD EXPOSURE:
in the clouds panel, density, luminousity, opacity and contrast all play a part but you can get away with default settings for these.
the real trick seems to be in the ATMOSPHERES panel where thickness, luminousity, opacity and falloff play a factor. in particular, LUMINOUSITY and OPACITY seem to share a tight relationship. if you drop the lum, you'll be able to expose your sky better but you get a more orange sky which is maybe not what you want. but if you INCREASE the opacity by as much as you dropped the luminousity, you seem to maintain the lower exposure with blue sky back.
