They say curiosity killed the cat (though obviously that would never happen on these forums :D) but I find it can actually turn up some useful snippets of information. For example, with a number of people wondering about when or even if Worley Labs were going to follow up the release of LW9.6 with a new version of FPrime or other plugin I found myself having a poke around on the Worley Labs site and stumbled across something very interesting:
http://www.worley.com/Media/videos/quicktips/flash/FPrimeHVdemo/FPrimeHVdemo.htm
It certainly looks like HVs appearing in a new version of FPrime though it's anybody's guess when it will actually appear on a PC/Mac for real. Anyone here have any thoughts ?

Nice find. I'd really like to see some hypervoxel/shader/node love from Fprime.

Nice. Don't want to get greedy but it would be great if FiberFX was also visible to Fprime...

Wow - This alone would make me consider buying FPrime
Knowing there's work under the hood at Worley's (9.6 provides new hooks for 3rd party renderers, if I understood correctly), so I'm really looking forward to seeing what FPrime is going to offer for the upcoming release (I'm still stunned by the videos showing near real time radiosity published on his website when FPrime first came out, but now LW buit-in radiosity solution is so fast this alone couldn't justify FPrime price - and I've heard the latest public update doesn't render nodal textures)
I'll be watching Worley's site closely :hey:
Thanks for the heads up, Qexit !

LWSDK v9.6 3rd party renderer class will allow VirtualRender and Fprime's WSN-hack to be used directly in LWSN.EXE, without hacking and intercepting LW render engine..

Nice!
This makes FPrime A HELL of alot more attractive, for sure!
Good work, mr Worley! :)

For those that were reading the beta announcements, MANY changes in the SDK were made for Volumetrics & FPrime, so its not smart to surprise.

What about animated radiosity on deformed and/or intersecting objects without flicker. LW still cant do that, its getting close though...

Finally, HV's in Fprime's preview window! It will be no surprise when Worley comes out with a new Fprime soon. They said they were waiting for newtek to release the latest version so that they could update. I'm curious to see if shaders or any post process effects will be visible. I'm doubtful but Worley never ceases to amaze me.

well i hope he been working on stopping FP crashing LW every 5 mins :(
I've been using Fprime up through 9.6 and hardly had any crashes with it.

BTW, what is Light *****? I see it there in the video and I remember something vaguely about it.

Yes, Fprime and other 3rd party renderers can now render and preview volumetrics. Actually it was fixed in 30 January 2007 by Jarno van der Linden after mine bug report (I wrote and sent him example little volumetric evaluating plug-in showing repeatable crash), when I and Grzegorz Tanski were making Kray working with volumetrics (Worley had to see this bug in Fprime v2.x too, but probably didn't send any bug report, instead made Fprime Render not initializing any ray-tracing functions, which prevented crashes, but you couldn't have shadows and other ray-tracing effects in HV).
Pixel-filters and image-filters that are applied to render image, still cannot be used. So everybody asking for FiberFX previewing/rendering - it might work only in worser quality in volume only mode..

And who is talking this.. Don't you remember that you sent me your's own high-res photo through Skype?? :D I was programming and then file poping from Maverick... "what to hell? guy is sending me his photo, without telling anything, just like that?!".. I am not sending my photos to other guys, "see how beautiful I am" like you... :D
I am not sure, maybe Maverick wanted to have date... :stumped:

Just to get back OT ..
.. Anyone else have the impression that 'Mr Worley' (as he is affectionately named here) lives a lifestyle akin to one 'Mr Wonka'?
You know, lone genius, massive secure facility no-one can enter, showering the public intermittently with wonderful creations, then hides away developing a new treat ... ;)

We never know what Mr. Worley may be cooking up in his labs... but we do know one thing for sure... it's always pretty amazing and well worth the wait whenever he does happen to cook something up for us...
Truly does Worley Labs rock the house.

Hey guys,
I found this just the other day www.ten24.info/oldman/tutorial.htm. I don't understand how these guys can get Fprime to work with the new simple skin shader. When I render out his scene with Fprime 3.2 I just get a distorted black image. Any ideas??

It's from LW v9.3.. Nodes didn't have pre-processing/interpolation in that version..
