Here's my latest problem lol

So My project file that is too big to burn onto a dvd - I can split it in half and burn as MPEG for a test viewing.

Trying ULEAD dvd workshop 2 SE for the first time.

In speedEdit I render the first hour of the project as
Part 1 using presets MPEG2 and for the CODEC MPEG LAYER 2 48 hz 16 bit stereo (audio is enabled).

The resulting file is PART1.m2v

I go into ULEAD dvd workshop - set my menus. Load the Part1.m2v mpeg video and burn to disc.

When I play the disc, the footage looks good but no sound.

What step am I missing in regards to the sound? What else do I need to do in speededit or for that matter in ULEAD to have sound on my MPEG 2 file?

Thanks for any advice.

If I remember correctly, the m2v file is video only. Go to customer and select the drop down. You have an option for video and I think the other one is Program. You'll want the Program or whatever it is, not video so that you end up with m2p.

I'm doing this from memory. I'm not at home where my SE is located. I'm sure if you poke around in there you'll figure it out.

Update - I checked the m2v file once it was in Ulead and it does not have audio. So the audio isn't rendering in SpeedEdit.

?

In SpeedEdit I'm using presets MPEG2 and for the
CODEC MPEG LAYER 2 (my only choice)

48 hz 16 bit stereo (audio is enabled).

Render out the mpeg and the go back to render and render out a wav, it will do the two renders at the same time. Bring both of those in workshop (one as a video and one as a audio. Drag the video on to the boxes on the bottom, when you are in the edit mode of workshop and then drag the audio on top of it. After you have done this go up to the tabs on the top right and click the audio tab and check the conform audio to template box or something like that. I am not near that computer at the time, but that will make it do ac3 audio from the wave file. If you have workshop se you have to make a special preset to have it do ac3 audio. I hope this all makes sense

Thanks that worked.

Anyone know why we can't render audio with the MPEG2 file? As I will also need to submit the MPEG2 file as a data file to someone and looks like I will have to render the audio out separately even for the data file...

As I stated in my previous post you can. You just have to make sure it's set to Program Stream. Also, make sure Audio is checked. Go into the Custom settings after you select MPEG2 and make the changes.

If you did it correctly the resulting file will have the extender of .m2p
