My VT5 computer is loud--"prolonged exposure causes hearing loss" loud. The Toaster card is in a SuperMicro 743T-645B case. I placed the tower in my enclosed sound booth which is in the same room as my studio; this way I could record directly into the Toaster without capturing the sound of the computer. I need to clear out the sound booth so it can be used exclusively for audio. I am trying to figure out what to do with the computer. I have thought about building an enclosure or housing it in an adjacent office and running tons of cables. I know I can't be the only person with a loud computer; how do you deal with it? Thank You, Dan.

Best solution is not to use that specific case.

You can also look in the BIOS and turn the fan speed down to lessen some of the noise. If you need quiet, either locate the Tower a couple rooms away or change the case out. The CoolerMaster CM Stacker line are extremely quiet boxes.

One client I put the CPU in a closet which happen to be right behind his desk... I popped a hole through the wall ran the cables I needed thru... it did the trick pretty well but we did have to add an external DVD drive on his desk as it was a pain to walk around to the other room...

Or go with Jef's solution (it is what I normally do (go with Jef's solution to any problem that is)
