This character is currently a work in progress. I'm still after the ever elusive "perfect" skin without shelling out for G2.
Expect more updates to come.

The bump's a little strong, I might tone that back a bit Mark.
Also, watch your deformations in the shoulder/pec area.

looks cool, but I do agree about the shoulder deformation. I'm assuming you are going for realism in which case I think the eyes look a little slanted upwards, although this may jus be because it's hard to make out because of the darkness around the eyes. Sorry I can't really comment too much on the skin since I'm not really into realism, but it looks quite good but maybe a bit too specular but that depends on the desired lighting conditions.

I think the skin shading looks really good, but do agree that the bump is too strong. Other than that i can't offer any tips cause i don't know much about skin shading. I think what you have done is very good.
Oh, and damn good modelling. Yes that deformation is weird but shouldn't be too hard to fix. I noticed in one of your other post that you said you are new to lightwave. But i hope that you have modelling experince in other programs, otherwise i few really bad about myself.
what you have here is great...just a few tihngs though:
the head seems a bit too small in relation to the body, perhaps enlarge it.
And the abs also see to be too big...you really need an 8 pack cos thats what people have...you know those 2 little ones at the top.
Good job so far

Thankyou very very much for the comments everyone.
I guess I should have specified in my original post. I'm not going for reaslism. Generally my style of workflow is a stylized character, surfaced somewhat realistically. However Many of the points made are excellent.
I agree that the shoulder/peck deformation is screwy, I'll hopefully have that worked out by the next update.
And thankyou very very much for the tips on the skin, i've already made many of the changes mentioned and all have changed the appearance of the skin for the better.
thankyou once again.

Mark, your character is coming along very nicely! :)
I like the body - it looks fairly proportional and the torso, midsection looks pretty good.
But I have to agree with j0SH on the head. There's something not right about the proportion of the head to the body. I agree that the head is too small for the body.
Also, the skin is a little grainy but since you've already addressed that issue, I won't go into it.
Other than that, good job! Can't wait to see an update.
:D
