is it possible to import in Lightwave 7 a Maya 2008 file?
I can't find any real exporting options in Maya, the only 2 filetypes I can save into are ascii y binary.
Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance

For objects you can export as .obj..you may have enable the object plugin in maya

I'm sorry but how do I do that? I do not know if I already have that plug in or not, and if so, how can I enable it.
Thanks again, and sorry but I'm new with MAYA

windows->Plugin manager (or something like that)..maya defaults with the obj export not loaded..just select auto-load and it will load whenever you start maya...then you'll have obj export available in the save requestor

And you have the free FBX converter from Autodesk, that lets you convert your Maya files to a decent format for LW.

He's using LW7, and would need the right FBX importer to import those.

Thanks for your help, I actually was able to export from MAYA in OBJ and then I had no problem importing that into LW.
Thanks!
