Yesterday we updated our Tricaster Pro 2.0 with the September update. This was done so that the audio is recorded as layer 2 instead of layer 3, simplifying our post production.

To verify it worked we recorded a short clip (hand clapping), copied the video and audio files to our NLE machine, and imported it into Sony Vegas. We were happy to see that the audio now correctly appears in Vegas when importing a video clip. For fun, we also imported the audio only file, aligned it with the video clip and we noticed something interesting. Both audio tracks (Layer 2, and external) are not synced with each other. They are 1 frame different, with the Layer 2 audio occurring earlier than the external. Also, both are early relative to the video, by about 2 frames. So you hear the clap, and the hands haven't even touched each other yet. Has anyone else noticed this?

Our setup
Audio: A wireless mic into a mackie mixer then into the Tricaster
Video: Panasonic HVX200 connect directly to the Tricaster

We have been using the Layer 2 audio since the update came out, but haven’t noticed what you are describing. However, I wasn’t exactly looking for that particular issue. I am currently out of the office for the holiday’s, but I’ll check our system when I get back.
