Damn, thought there might be a demo finally. If it's as good as it sounds, I might just have to buy this next year!
Great work guys, *sounds* awesome!
Once Kray 2.0 final is released we will also provide a demo version.

Great ! I'll be there !
Is it as easy to configure as the native renderer ?

It is more complex than the LW renderer but much more powerfull. And you can get good results fast with the build in presets. Just pick one and render away.
You can see the setup for a simple scene in these screencasts I did a while ago:
- simple Kray setup (http://www.florianvonbehr.de/tmp/kray_xvid.avi)
- simple Kray optimization (http://www.florianvonbehr.de/tmp/kray_optimized_xvid.avi)
Cheers, Florian

Thanks for those!
I have to say WOW... this version is fast!
I've been running a few tests - haven't used Kray in a LONG time - and found a confusing problem. Hopefully someone here has had the same thing and it's a quick fix. I'm rendering a test room, and for some reason the walls, fireplace surround and crown molding are coming out black. Also, through the windows no background image is seen. Everything else renders fine. Just these two issues.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
With this release it looks like we'll have to invest in another seat of Kray!
It looks like a surfacing issue. Could you please post this to the Kray forum along with info about Kray and LW version and the surface materials you are using there?
That's just it. There is no texture on these items - nothing but a color, spec & gloss. And the really strange thing is... these items have the same settings as the baseboards, half-wall cap and chair rail - all of these items have JUST a color with no texture mapping. Some show up fine and others don't. Very, very strange. I even tried triangulating those items and still get black. I ended up using MC in Lightwave and it worked perfectly - but it took quite a bit longer than Kray did.
Hmm strange, that shouldn't happen... It would be greatly appreciated if you could send us your bug scene so we can test it and fix the bug...
I uploaded and pared down the scene file at the Kray forum Help and Tutorials area. In the zip file are a comparison image between Kray and FPrime as well as screen grabs of the Kray settings. Considering how the developer works, I'm sure this will be corrected quickly. I'm hoping it's user error, but consdiering the problem I don't think so. Then again... one never knows. ;)
I checked your scene and there are a lot of 'pilot errors' there... ;)
The thing that is the biggest problem in your scene is that you have luminosity on all your walls and other surfaces. This is may be OK in LW or Fprime but Kray treates luminous surface as a light source and hence it will produce totally different result.
When working with Kray you have to think how lights and surfaces work in reality and not how to best 'fake' them. I've send you an elaborate reply to the Kray open beta forum and I have included a scene that I have quickly corrected. Try it and you will see how much better your result can be this way...
cheers,
