Hi from Mexico City
We have a tricaster studio almost new and we just love it
On the last event we got a virus named Generic Artemis
Does anybody know how to get ride of it
Can I install a antivirus in the future and just run it when a client gives me a usb?
Do I need to update windows?
Thankyou for your HHHHHHeeeeeeLLLLpppp

I found this and it seems they help solve the same problem for others.

I don't know but if I was you, I would use another computer that had the latest anti-virus to test usb thumb drives or any portable memory or drives in the future.
I know clients always say "Our stuff doesn't have viruses".
The only time I got a nasty virus was from a large newspaper client who brought us some files. When I started to run a check, he insisted and acted insulted.
I stupidly didn't want to insult him and didn't check.
I spent weeks getting it off all our computers. :(
I now have a story why I don't trust anything.
I agree. If you have your laptop on location, use it to check the media.
Best of luck!

Always always ALWAYS have a virus checker installed. I'm really surprised anyone in this day has no virus checker.

I know that it sounds stupid not to have a antivirus installed , we do but not in TRICASTER because it seems that it will interfiere with it
Sometimes in live produccion corporate events you do not have enough time to scan in another computer.
The problem comes when a top executive is waiting to copy a graphic or info to the tricaster
Hmm
Maybe I will install norton and turn it of while tricaster is working
Any suggestions?

I am using NOD32 with my Tricaster. For most of time I don't need to turn it off even at live switching.

Nod32 can scan the files your are opening. You don't need to scan whole disk or computer during live production event.

Norton might be too heavy for Tricaster. Turn off Antivirus when TriCaster is working is a general suggestion from everyone but remember to turn it on when you are copy files into TriCaster.
Most case are one forget to turn antivirus on "when a top executive is waiting to copy a graphic or info to the tricaster". And that USB drive come with virus......

I've only had virus issue from USB drives bringing in files from other people's computers.
I don't run antivirus on Tricaster, but....
I have AVG free on my notebook and my VT[5] workstation. Since any anti-virus software can cause speed problems with NewTek video software, I keep it's resident shield off, only turning it on if I'm going to run a scan of the whole machine.
I usually carry a couple of USB thumb drives - if someone's giving me a file, I have them put it on there. Then I put it in my notebook or workstation (not straight into the unprotected Tricaster) and right-click on its icon, one of the choices that gives in the context menu is the scan the thumb drive with AVG free. That takes only seconds to do.
