I had asked awhile back about different ways to model a hole in a sphere for a robot that has a spherical head, the holes would be the eye sockets, that would produce results similar to nurb curve projection and a lot of different ideas where discussed. But when the new forums went online, I can't find the thread. Can you guys/gals out there once again grace me with some techniques to do this. I've tried stencil but the results are pretty bad. Maybe some ways to better use it or some other ideas on this problem...thanks alot for any help.

I can think of a couple of ways to do this. One way would to create a sphere object and then subpatch it. Then using symetry, snap or drag one or two of the control points and drag toward the back of the sphere untill you have the desired results.

Also try doing a Boolean operation. Make a sphere, and then go to another layer and create two more smaller spheres and Boolean it - subtract I think. This would create a more precise hole than subpatch depending on the poly count of the main sphere.

These are a couple of the ways I create eye sockets, but I am sure there is other methods. Try it out, see if it works.
