Can you take a rig from one character and use it in another character?
Where can I find out how?
I also heard that you can use poser rigged models in lightwave.
How?
thanks

With LW9.5 new joints, I predict it will be easier. But there is some debate out in it.
If you model the character identically, YES. In other words, shoulder in the same place, same arm length, same knee placement, etc. We actually used this approach for an animation in one of my productions.
Joint allow a bit easier adjustment for rigs that don't quite match up. I am experimenting currently.

The simplest way is to load your rig, then select the mesh and use Replace object to replace it with your new mesh. Save your scene under a new name. Now use the bone tools Joint mover, Scale Hierarchy and Tip mover to position your bones proportionately to your mesh.
If you layed out your bones using skelegons, you can use my Update Bones script from my web page. Copy the skelegons from your 1st object to your second, adjust them to the right position, then load your rig scene and replace the 1st object with the second. Run my Update bones script, and all the bones will pop into place to match the skelegons.

Excellent method as always.
My personal fear stems from the Joint mover, Scale Hierarchy and Tip Move tools-- no undo.
