I wrote a post a couple months ago about having problems with LW being slow while running on 3 monitors (2 video cards). The problem was that I couldn't have 3 monitors running at the same time... had to shut off one of the monitors.

I'm running an AMD with GF 7900 GS (running 1 monitors) and GF 8600 GT (running 2 monitors). LW 9.5 on Vista 64.

So here is the deal:

A. If I have all three monitors running and I open LW or LWM it is slower than slow... perspective take over a minute to move with a blank scene.

B. If I shut off the 3rd monitor (7900 GS) open LW and LWM then go back into the display settings and turn that monitor back on again... everything works great!

It would be great if I didn't have to shut off the monitor to use three monitors.

So, if anyone is reading this and wants to have 3 monitors running... and has the same problem I'm having... above is the work around.:)

Thanks for the work around there. :)

Glad you figured it out, I recall having read that thread. It's too bad that something like that was a problem. I wonder why it would even do that in the first place. Computers can be strange sometimes...

Does it do it with other apps? Lightwave has always done things a little different in reguards to ogl, and it's possible that there is a line that for some reason causes the data to bottleneck between the 2 cards. When the 3rd monitor is off, the card knows it and doesnt try to grab any resources, but starting it after memory is allocated its fine because the os doesnt try to use it as it's already assigned lw to x.
