This is a character I did based on a character Proton demonstrated at SIGGRAPH. Its uses some node textures.

It was fun to do.

That is a pretty cool [even if a little disturbing, in a merry way] image.
Loving the lighting around the shoulder and ear - it's other-worldly in a very pleasant way.

Thanks, I really try and transfer the aesthetics from my 2D over to 3D.

very cool looking... it would be nice to see with raydiosity/soft shadows too. :)

Hi JeffrySG,
Believe or not, it has radiosity. I baked it, to speed rendering when I had to have this printed out.
Soft shadows could be interesting, I plumbed for the hard shadows, I felt it suited the look. Not saying I always make the right artistic decisions of course :D

Yes it is I suppose. Theres so many paths we could off course make. My decisions are really based on what intuitively works..thats after thousands of hours of practice.
