Venting

I just got this software Monday last week.
It took til today for someone to call me back with the perm registration code.
Now, I've been sitting here for an hour and a half tying to make sense of this huge-@$$ book and still can't figure how to jump into some kind of hands on tutorial to pacify me... I like to sit and read and feel like I'm learning something.

The most I can do is open up some helicopter and watch it move and moan
"Das not faiwa. I wanna do dat!"

AAAuuugh!! On top of that some of these stupid scenes make lightwave
"quit unexpectedly."

I have to sit in this office and grin everytime my partner comes in to check on me and act like this is the best thing since Final Cut Pro.

I'll be glad when something starts to go right.

If any one knows where some easy start up tuts are, holla.

ciciedward, are you using a G4?

The preferred OS for Lightwave is 10.2.4.

After installing Lightwave (or any other piece of software for OS X) run the Disk Utility program and repair the permissions.

Doing this may reduce your crashes.

I don't know how new you are to 3D..I won't presume that you are, but I can remember when I was learning Pixels (more pro-like than Ray Dream, my first) I was flummoxed by what and how and why. Pixels set me up well for Lightwave learning, but Lightwave is orders of magnitude more capable and more complex than is Pixels, and was a jolt to look at the first time, even though I felt like an experienced 3D artist.

as with most things, there is a critical mass of knowlege where everything starts to make sense. procedures that once seemed esoteric become indispensible...possibilities emerge, and modeling and rendering are as second-nature as putting on socks.

there is some pulling yourself up by your boot straps ahead, but the folks here are generous, and there are some excellent tutorials..like the recent ones offered by spline god. I mention these not because other tutes aren't good, but because he talks WHILE he models, and you can learn a lot about how an experienced person attacks problems.

I have inside LW 6, missed 7 shouldnt it be inside LW8?
Does that X mean anything? Maybe for OSX?
