This is a little guy I am building for some advertising. In the end he will be holding signs and products. This is a render after a few hours of modeling and surfacing. I am not happy with the surfacing yet and I still need to add more details to the model but I think it's coming along pretty good. I really like the way the tracks came out on the very first try. At first I was going to add dirt and scuffs but I decided the ad was going to go over better as a shiny toy look.

technically you're on the right track, creatively you're in the danger zone.

OK, I made some major changes to the bot so it's not so much like the movie bot.
I was not real happy with the body anyway. This one has the basics done, I will keep adding to it as I think of things to make it better. This is testing my limited surfacing talents to try and get the look I want. You would think that using Lightwave off and on since version 1 I would be better at surfacing.

Though superficially it also has the feel of the robot in 'Short Circuit'.....the great creative exercise now involves absolutely avoiding everything that went before, enough to stay under the radar anyway.....but then I guess that's called 'originality' :D
I like the yellow one, looks good :D

Well for my needs it must look cute, have animal or human like features (2 eyes and personality) and I love the treads (tracks) so that pretty much means it's going to look some what like famous bots. This ones air tank like body is different from others.
Johnny 5 (Short circuit) was a physical model and not CG. I really liked the looks of that one.
