I didn't think he was that old. Not like 66 is all that old but he had the big C. I was a fan of his books and it was Jurassic Park that got me excited about CG.

I was about to write about it too. Huge loss! He was my favourite writer, really.
I think I read Jurassic Park and the lost world 3 times. Not to mention The great train robbery and Prey...

This is sad. I really enjoyed many of his earlier books but must admit that I thought his writing became really really bad in recent years. They read to me like really poor screen plays.

Terrible loss. I read Jurassic Park in a single sitting, and always enjoy the scene in the movie when they first see the brontosaurus tearing off the top of the tree. Perfect combination of music, emotion, wonder, and oh yeah - CG!

I bought Airframe for a flight back home, stupid me.

Besides both JP I really never liked his other novels. I'll read JP again to remember him.

Yes, I meant to type crichton. It's just so natural for me to make everything a gh when you're making the i sound.

Oh wow, terrible. :(

It was The Andromeda Strain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Andromeda_Strain) that first got me into sci-fi.

what's with everyone dying this year?

anyway too bad. i read a few of his books and he was an entertaining writer with really great ideas. the whole dna trapped in blood trapped in mosquito trapped in amber thing may not have been his idea but it really infected the popular imagination.

he will be missed.

p.s. the book about the japanese turned into a sean connery wesley snipes abomination... it was a good book. forgot the name of it but the book was awesome. the movie was execrable.

'The Art of War' I think that was.

Very sad news, he will be missed. Especially by his family and friends.
