If you're doing any kind of VT work for sporting events, please email me directly. I've got a new product coming out soon that may be of interest to you for both live and edited sporting events, and I'd like to get some feedback on features.
Let me know what sports you cover and how you're using the VT for the work.

Jef,
Off topic for a moment... ever try to attain the GPI signals without the SX-8. I use mostly SDI but would consider the mini-bob if I could get to the GPI and eventually the Alpha Out...
Thanks,

You have to have the SX8 in order to get the GPI or Tally signals.
Sorry, Wish I had better news.
What are you exactly trying to accomplish with GPI??
If you would PM me or start a new thread so we can keep this one about VT in Sports.
Talk to you soon...

I am planning to purchase VT3 at the end of this month for a mobile production van for our local vocational school. We will use it for live sports production and other special events.
I am interested in your development.
How is the VT3 with live sports? Responsive? What about using the CG in the live environment?
Thanks
Randy

Yes the VT3 is definitely responsive. We use it all the time for live event video. The CG works good for most basic static CG elements. We use Aura and VTEdit for more motion based graphic elements.
Definitely order the RS8 switcher interface since that will free up your keyboard and mouse to be used for last minute CG input. This is only really useable with Dual screens though.
I also would suggest for the best performance in a live situation to use Dual Xeons with at least 1 gig of RAM and 4 or better yet 6 SCSI hard drives for system storage. On the systems we build for live use, we also add in a F/X drive to load the F/X and most used content off of.
Let me know if I can help you. I will be glad to.
