Ahead of time, Thank you for any help you can give. Okay, I'm still pretty new to using lightwave 3d and I still have many questions I need answered (I'll just pick a few I have in mind though).

First thing I'm have trouble with is Splitting the polygon. How do I take a square polygon and, for example, cut it into two separate Triangular Polygons? Picture example ( I highlighted it in blue): http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y125/Kichi_Flameson/stf-eggman-intro.png

The next thing I'm having trouble with is that I made a 3d Penguinmon Model

But whenever I try to put it in the Layout thing, the only thing that appears is his feet. Can anyone tell me why That happened?

Last question (For now). Can Lightwave 3D be used to make Games, and if so.. can it do it on it's own or does it need some kind of alternative software to make the model a part of the game?

Thankyou for any help.:help:

Well, I can at least answer the last question - Lightwave's not a game engine, but you can make all your models and scenes in it and import them into some other game engine (like the UnrealTournament engine or the Quake engine). However, I don't have the faintest idea how that happens - maybe one of the game-oriented folks can help.

My favorite way to cut polys is with the Knife tool in Modeler.

Hope this helps!

Based on the image for the triangle you could use a boolean or drill fuction fotr that.

The 24+ hours of free videos by William Vaughn are great, simple and easy to follow. (find them at the top of this section) Much of these kinds of things are covered

Regarding your penguin, it may be a format issue. Not sure. What format was it saved in?

I realized I had another question. When I load a model into Layout, it's all Flat shaded. how do I make it smooth shaded in the layout?

Careful, you'll get an RTFM... it's up on the left top corner.

Layout is usually set to show smooth shading by default. So it may also be that you need to make the surface smooth. F5 for the surface panel and for each surface you want smoothing you can select it at the bottom.
