Soo...I made my first real character in LightWave, and it turned out to be a big, fat bird. I would like to animate it, but have to read a bit more in Ablans book about bones and stuff like that :)

All comments/critics are welcome.

This bird is seriously cool :) I love the stylized look you've given him. Can't wait to see him in motion :)

Thanks a lot, Mark!

I'm planning on using a lot of motion blur on those little wings as he tries to fly away. I think he will never actually leave the ground :D

loebek: Thanks! Doesn't Swiss birds have teeth? They have here ;-)

I think he looks cuter with those big teeth - and besides I think the teeth is the least of his worries. Akk.

it was just a joke.
it really looks cute!
probably a gradient on the beak would be a little nicer.

for animation i recomend lostpencils cds:
model and rig
walk cycles

I personally love the teeth!, and your idea about having him never make it off the ground. Excellent, they were my thoughts exactly :)

This is great. I also like the idea of the struggle to get off the ground never being accomplished. I think his feet need some webbing though. Great work.

Thanks a lot for the nice comments!! I'm so happy you like him, because this fat birdy have had a lot of crap in his life so far.

Now I'm definitely going to make him (almost) fly, thanks again!

:D

I like it, and one pupil smaller than the other is a nice touch. It gives him a kind of neurotic look.
Two small comments:
The eyebrows look very 2D, like they are photoshop brushstrokes. Don't you want to give them some kind of depth ?
I would have given him toes, something like Donald Duck. He looks like he is wearing shoes.
Just my opinion.
