Man...that's one scary dude:p
Great work...nice and different!!
The goatee seems to match his skin tone well.

I love him, Mark! (Okeeey, that didn't come out exactly as I meant it, but you get my point...)
Stylised character with photoreal surfacing. Absolutely my favourite style.
I'm really curious to see your facial animation setup.
But I wouldn't tie myself too much to it if I were you. The Graph Editor and the Morph Mixer provide just as much control.
At least that's what I found out.
You actually don't want to link morphs too much together using one single control for all, because thats just not how we humans work.
In the Graph Editor you can still set the keys at the same frame for multiple morphs, plus you have the ability to tweak each morph's keys so the have a little bit different curve interpolation.
And it's those little "flaws" and irregularities that often make the character seem human and make it look like he's using muscles instead of a mechanized rig under his "digital epidural exoskeleton".
Concerning his skin, here's a little trick I use to make it look like there is some degree of multilayered sss:
If you take a look at this you see that as the skin is shaded down towards the darker areas you get scattered light (colored red from the subdermis) spreading into the dark areas:
http://www.superrune.com/dyret/skin_eksempel.jpg
This you can achieve with a gradient layer with light incidence in your input parameter. Choose the key light as the source Light.
Also look at how the specular highlights get sharper as the surface get more parallell to the camera. This you can achieve with a fresnel shader such as "fastfresnel" or you can use a gradient with incidence angle as input parameter.

He does look a bit psycho, but could just as easily be the guy from the local community centre. The colours in the skin texture look a bit like 'Mother-of-Pearl'.

He looks like a psychotic Pete Townshend.
Great work.

Great model. Are you Peekoot, Mark? This model looks uncannily like a Turbosquid head...

I'm not Peekoot, but that head was a huge insipration for mine
Hmmm, shouldn't you have credited Vlad / Peekoot and made it clearer where you sourced the original mesh? Did you actually pay for the original Max model and download it from Turbosquid?
Sorry, but it looks exactly like Peekoot's model, right down to the endomorph expressions... even the eyes and texturemaps look the same!!

It is cool. My only nag would be the size of the pores on the forehead and top of head, but it is a charicature, so who cares? The expressions are wonderful, too.
You should have never acknowledged ever seeing the turbosquid head. I would have totally believed it if you had just said you were making the love child of Odo and Pete Townsend :D

Well, Although I recognize the similiarity in the models, I can tell you have your own textures and I don't see the same facial expressions at all. The other looks like a happy dork and yours looks like a psycho.
Even if you looked at the pics and built your own model, it would still be impressive. Plenty of people post their heads of celebrities and well known characters, so what's the difference?
In any case, I believe it's commendable that you both did this nice work AND you're willing to appologize for any similiarity to the other model. You're a good guy.
I'll be looking for your next model.
Mark...
Don't quit working on this guy....if you made it use it man...I think it looks great and anyone griping about it isn't your problem....if you spent the time making it keep going....I don't care where it came from as long as you made it....I get inspiration from alot of things too....isn't that how it works.....good job on the model by the way...i'd like to see an animation with the guy...:)

Looks really great! But if you just made his eyes more shiny, he would become much more alive.

i thought he looked like RALPH FIENNES' character from SPIDER (is it just me, or does he look more and more like AL BUNDY?). the goatee is dead on - nice work.

So does this mean that the tutorial that he was going to be idoing in Keyframe, a step by step on how he ripped off other people's works?

I couldn't believe Mark's nerve - and naivety (like Policarpo said, 'Word travels fast on the Internet').
I thought I'd seen the 'Psychodude' model before and checked out Turbosquid... It seemed obvious he'd downloaded the Max mesh, imported it into Lightwave and proceeded to take all the applause for Peekoot's creation, even signing it as his own.
It's even more staggering the level of deception that's been going on... taking advantage of artists' generosity and trust, directly plagiarising source files.
Very sad for the forums... self promotion at the expense of sharing. Peekoot's been very charitable, considering.
