it would be great if there were a way to capture text which was keyed over moving video. I can find no way to do a true DSK with text over live switched video.

In the capture panel, do you have Main IN selected or Program out? Program out will have whatever you put in your DSK layer recorded on it. Think of the Main In as a clean feed and Program out as dirty. (in Tech Director language)

i do have pgm out selected and can capture the DSK but the DSK is reversed. the live video keys over the text, it is working like liveset not DSK graphics.
