Is dongle ID the same thing as serial number?

I need to find my dongle ID number for a plugni purchase, and have no clue where to get that from. Is it the same number as my serial? thanks

No, the dongle ID is the internal number of your hardware dongle.
LW will display it in the about window (Help->About LightWave 3D) - on the top left "Product Lock: #####". It is usually a 5-3 digit number.
