Final Gather Interpolated

Can somebody tell me why the radiosity calculation per frame using Final Gather is shorter than using Interpolate Final Gather?

You're familiar with Exception's explanation on GI in Lightwave?

I ha read the article, not entirely yet though... I will have a look at it this weekend. It was just the fact that if thios method takes shortcuts to do the calculation, what should it take longer?
