This is my first ever time using Saslite. I'm struggling with the settings.
Any tips for making a nice goatee?
Thanks.

I don't know. I looks pretty damn good to me. Maybe it is a little too neat. Try adding a tiny bit of frizz. Nice modelling and texturing.

(sorry no further comment about sasquatch, I used it so few
often and… well never managed to do something correct…)

Well, my suggestion Mark would be to buy the full version of Sasquatch;)
But I think what you have is pretty good for saslite.
saslite fibers do not cast shadows onto your objects so you will need to mimic them. try a difuse texture for this.
If you don't want such a sharp edge to your hair (like your characters perfectly trimmed goatee) try creating some new geometry that lies just under the surface and apply your hair to that. this way you can control the length of the hair by how close the hair geometry is to the object geometry.
Use a multi spotlight setup to light the hair and make sure it is recieving shadows and self shadowing.

Thankyou very much for the help. I'm going to try a few things now, I'll post some results later.
HRGiger, I want to buy Sasquatch, although parting with $500 for a plugin, is not very appealing. So I'm holding off.

Mark,
I'm really amazed by your character…
I'm coming back here to see him for few hours…
the texture is incredible,
very very good work, indeed.

Thankyou lasco, I really appreciate your comments. I'm current making a whole heap of endomorphs for him, however expect some update renders later today.
