Hey everyone, I've noticed how nice and clear everyone's screenshots are when giving examples or asking for help. Up until now, I've used a digital camera and taken a picture of my computer screen. It doesn't seem like other people are doing that. Is there a way to jpeg a screenshot from LW?

Take a screenhot, on a PC I then paste it into Photoshop.

Here's how to screen shot on a OSX...

Or, do you mean for video?

No, I just mean a crisp screen shot. It would look as good as if I was looking at it on my computer screen, not take a picture of it from a digital camera.

look in your app/utilities folder for 'Grab'. I think the shortcut to take a screengrab is-shift apple and 3! Itl dump it on your desktop.

Also check out snapz pro X! You can get a trial download. Its alot more flexible and allows you to record movies as well....fab for tuts and alike!

mac doesn't have a print screen key? in windows you can simply press the press the print screen key in the keyboard. This will save a screenshot of your screen in the clipboard (memory) then in any application like photoshop you can paste this screenshot. There are some applications that offer more advanced options for capturing screens.

You're best to get some coloured pencils and a nice piece of white paper and just draw it.

Helps your drafting skills too.

I like Iains idea! Would help keeping the forum's noise down :)
Ón the other hand it would take some month for a decent tutorial...

The link that Stunt Pixels listed gives a few different ways to take a good screen shot in OSX. You can do a full screen, or just a window, or a user selected area and also copy to clipboard on any of those options as well.

Personally my favorite is to place the computer monitor on a photocopier and then scan in the photocopy to post. But that's just me. ;)

In OS X, just hold Shift+Cmd+4 that will give you a cross hair. Select the area you want to capture and it saves an image to the desktop. Or you can do Shift+Cmd+3 for entire desktop captured to an image on the desktop. Both methods should yield a nice crisp image.

If you do a Control+Cmd+Shift+3 (or 4) it will copy to the clipboard and you can paste into say Photoshop.

Oh, and save the grabs as PNG files, much crisper that way!

If you tape your paper over the screen and turn the brightness right up, you can sketch out a rough draft then fill it in at your leisure.
(Not so good on lcd screens though.)

Wait, macs don't have a print screen key?

Ok, I don't think I can say anything funny that would add to the humor of that.
