Thanx to all for a great show....we had record numbers watching the stream and great guests and visitors to the booth.....I'm so excited about the future of LW.

Alot of the NewTek employees would love to get their hands on some of the videos that people snagged from the show....it would be cool if some of you could hang on to them for us. I'll be posting pix from teh show when I get back next week.....more cool stuff on the way!

I can place them onto a P2P service such as Emule; or, if someone wants to help me set up a Bit Torrent tracker site which could be used to help spread the file?

Either way I would be willing to seed the files I have - I have most of them, some are a bit choppy. The first day is the roughest cut with only half the day recorded (and choppy at that), day 2 is missing 4 hours (a lot if choppy) and day 3 is all there, with minimal choppiness.... all in .asf format. HAH just as I was getting good at capturing the streams, the show ends...

Just let me know either here or on beverins@aol.com if either option sounds agreeable to y'all....

Or, if someone has a large ftp space I can upload to... thats fine too LOL :-)

Dang, I am sad this whole thing is over - Its been exciting for me, even though I'm living about 20,000km away! :( I even got to see about 4m 35s worth of stream... (from 35 mins of recording via modem) :)

Looked like a lot of fun...

BTW, nobody seems to answer half the questions I ever ask on these forums. But was there any LWUG action at Siggraph? Just curious.

Proton, thats the best captured stream I've seen thus far.

Hope that helps

Proton... if you drop me a line, I have pretty decent coverage of the last 2 days. Pretty much most of the activities (especially today). I have the .asf files and I have been converting to Quicktime for the Mac guys but at a video and audio loss due to my bandwidth limitations.

Proton,

I've got 23 individual ASF files at a total of 827 megs.
They are all good quality with virtually no skipping.
They are from day 2 and 3.
I have you and Deuce of course as well as 2 from
SplineGod, 2 from CelShader, 1 from Area51, 2 of Paul Lara and the VT3 and several others as well as some of the demo reel clips.

If Newtek has the space I can ftp them to you.

GruvSyco,

What did you use to convert the asf files to QT?
I tried Vegas Video and it looked like it was working but it didn't.

Cheers,
JS

As of right now all those clips are in WMV format...I'll convert them over to QT or something that works for all platforms.

Plus I'll be adding a bunch of stuff from Day 3, which had the best quality stream of the 3 days. I have about 4hours from Day 3 and I'll try to squeeze out as much quality as possible before putting them up.

Some of the clips currently on my site (with major help from Dan Ablan and his 3dgarage.com server!) will be taken down and replaced with "better" versions. For instance, Jennifer's Cel Shader demo from day 3 was better than the day 2 demo that's currently up there.

William, what is the policy on putting up the LightWave demo reel and Meni's "Terra" animation? I have some good coverage of most, if not all, of the demo reel. Great stuff!

can't wait to see em... I had to work, so only got to see one of the nights for about 1 hour.

Which version? I have 3.0 and it becomes unresponsive when I import an ASF file into it.

Use just have to wait. Vegas seems to be a little on the slow side. It takes max CPU when I pull in a file and then again when I render out. But, I am running version 4 also.

I am currently mirroring the Quicktime files to TripleG, we are both hosting on our humble little internet connections. I have shipped off CDs of my original files to Proton, he should have them on Monday. Those are all .asf files. I figure if they get everyones files, they can probably splice together a real nice set in VT and, put them up in a format everyone can use.

Yeah I've got very nice, clean, 300kb asf files. I assume you probably have pretty much the same thing I have. So there's probably no reason for me to bother sending mine to Newtek since you already did.:D
Version 3 of Vegas doesn't seem to like the asf files so I can't really convert them to QT.:(

Jeez my head is still spinning from all the new stuff. What a great show! :)

Thanks for the demos Larry. I tried doing a model using splines years ago but due to not doing it properly I dismissed it as too tedious. But after seeing you create that dragon head with relative ease I see how easy spline modeling can be. :D

It couldn't hurt to send them. I sent mine on CD because my upload bandwidth has just been slaughtered the last few days.

Heck, I'm not even sure if Proton was asking for streamed footage or footage from people that had camcorders going at the event.

js33

Yeah I guess I could send them.

Proton,
Should I just send them to Newtek to your attention?
I was hoping I could just upload them to the ftp server.

Cheers,
JS

Thanks! Lightwaves splines are very flexible in terms of how you can quickly throw them together without the major constraints I see in other implementations. If you look at them as a way to quickly layout SubD cages theyre awesome. :)

Yes. :D
Splines for the rough out and then Sub-Ds for the finish.
There isn't anything that can't be made with the above although edges would be handy in modeler. :D

JS
