Dear Toaster Pros,
I'm running a slick dual-processor VT2 which has served nicely the past year. Recently, I found an external firewire hard drive full of great shots I'd like to use, but they are all in .MOV format. I cannot get ToasterEdit to recognize these files.
What do I do?

Forgive my ignorance, but this is realatively new to me.
Is it possible to add a codec to the toaster side, which would allow me to drag and drop them as is directly into my ToasterEdit timeline?
Or...
In the absence of a direct solution, will I need to render the .mov files in Aura before exporting them?
Thank you very much for your assistance!

you will HAVE to convert your files in order to use them in VT edit.
No way arond it.
Method 1:
But the quicltime pro, which will allow you to export to a DV avi file in ted
or
Method 2.
Load mov into Aura VT, if this does not work you will have to use method 1. Someone can hand you a .mov, but it could be ANYTHING?
So, QT and toaster, not simple, but workable,
If you have after effects you can batch this procees, but without it you will be doing it individually in QT or Aura.
Sorry the new is not better.
You can try to stuff the box newtek for feature requests.
Good luck with that

It would be possible if Apple wasn't so protective of their codec. Even when you by Quicktime Pro, (which includes the codec), it is not made available in a Windows standards codec format like it should be so other programs could use it.
I guess Apple just wants to keep a tight reign on it so they force people to purchase their products. Can't say I blame them, they are struggling to stay afloat but this is the only reason why you can't just drop a MOV into VT[3]. Instead Apple wants you to buy a Mac with FCP for editing video. (Or at the very least Quicktime Pro - which is reasonably priced.)
